Privacy Policy
Last updated: June 6, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains how Lockd(“Lockd”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information in connection with the Lockd iOS application (the “App”). Lockd is a focus timer that detects phone pickups and can block distracting apps during focus sessions. We designed it to be privacy-first.
The short version
- No named account.You don’t sign up or provide your name, email address, or phone number. Our service creates random identifiers for analytics, feedback, and subscription management.
- Your focus data stays on your device. Session history, settings, labels, and your selection of apps to block are stored locally on your iPhone — not on our servers.
- We don’t sell your dataand we don’t use advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs.
- Limited app-usage analytics are enabled by default and sent to PostHog and Supabase. You can disable analytics at any time in Lockd Settings. Information you voluntarily submit through feedback features is also sent to Supabase. Purchase information is handled by Apple and RevenueCat.
Information stored on your device
The App stores the following locally on your device using Apple’s standard storage (SwiftData and app preferences). This information is not transmitted to us:
- Session history — start/end times, session length, number of phone pickups, whether a session was completed, and any task labels or tags you choose to add.
- Preferences and settings — such as timer durations, haptic intensity, motion sensitivity, and notification preferences.
- Your blocked-app selection — the apps and categories you choose to lock during sessions (see Screen Time below).
Because this data lives on your device, deleting the App removes it. We have no ability to access, recover, or back it up for you.
Screen Time & app blocking
To block distracting apps, Lockd uses Apple’s Family Controls / Screen Time framework. When you choose which apps or categories to block, iOS represents your choices as opaque tokens that are stored on your device. Lockd cannot see the names of the specific apps you select, and your selection is never transmitted off your device. Apple’s Screen Time data is handled by iOS under Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Motion & pickup detection
Lockd uses your device’s motion sensors (Apple’s Core Motion) to detect when you pick up your phone during an active session. This processing happens in real time, entirely on your device. Motion data is used only to trigger haptic feedback and to count pickups for that session — it is not recorded, stored as raw sensor data, or transmitted to us or any third party.
Notifications
With your permission, Lockd sends local notifications (for example, when a session completes or a break is ready). These are generated on your device. We do not operate a push-notification server and do not send marketing messages.
Purchases & subscriptions
Lockd offers an optional paid subscription (“Lockd Pro”). Purchases are processed by Apple through your App Store account — we never receive or store your payment card details.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscriptions and unlock entitlements. RevenueCat may receive a randomly generated, app-specific user identifier (not tied to your name or Apple ID), purchase and transaction information, and basic device and app details. This is used solely to determine your subscription status. See the RevenueCat Privacy Policy and Apple’s Privacy Policy for details.
Analytics & tracking
Lockd does notinclude advertising SDKs and does not track you across other companies’ apps or websites. Limited product-usage analytics are enabled by default and sent to PostHog and Supabase. You can disable analytics at any time in Lockd Settings.
Analytics may include:
- random app-specific and session identifiers;
- event names and timestamps, such as opening a screen or starting a session;
- app version, build number, platform, locale, and country/region;
- product settings and status, such as timer lengths, notification preferences, haptic level, motion sensitivity, onboarding status, and subscription status; and
- onboarding answers and experiment assignments.
Analytics do not include raw motion sensor readings, your selected blocked apps, session labels, task names, or feedback text. PostHog session replay, automatic screen capture, and automatic interaction capture are disabled.
Feedback & feature requests
If you choose to submit feedback, a bug report, a feature request, or a vote, we send the content you provide, the feedback type, timestamps, and a random app-specific identifier to Supabase. Feature requests may be visible to other users inside the App; private feedback is not posted publicly.
How we use information
- To provide the App’s core features (timing, pickup detection, blocking).
- To determine whether you have an active Lockd Pro subscription.
- To understand usage and improve reliability and features.
- To receive feedback, operate feature requests, and prevent abuse.
- To comply with legal obligations.
How information is shared
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only as described above with Apple and RevenueCat for purchases,PostHog for product analytics, and Supabase for product analytics and user-submitted feedback. We may also disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights.
Data retention & deletion
Data stored on your device remains until you delete it within the App or remove the App. Analytics and feedback are retained only as long as reasonably necessary for product analysis, support, security, and legal obligations, after which they are deleted or aggregated. Subscription records held by Apple and RevenueCat are retained according to their respective policies. You may contact us to request deletion of server-side data associated with your random identifier.
Security
Because most data stays on your device, it benefits from your device’s built-in security (such as your passcode and encryption). No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, but we and our providers take reasonable measures to protect information.
Children’s privacy
Lockd is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age required in your country), and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example, under the GDPR or CCPA/CPRA), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your personal information. Most focus data is under your control on your device and can be deleted by removing the App. You can disable analytics in Lockd Settings. For server-side analytics, feedback, or subscription requests, contact us using the details below. We do not sell personal information.
European users (GDPR)
If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), the United Kingdom, or Switzerland, the following additional information applies and you have specific rights under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and equivalent UK and Swiss laws.
Data controller
Lockd is the controller responsible for personal data processed through the App. You can contact us at contact@lockdfocus.app.
Legal bases for processing
We process limited personal data on the following legal bases:
- Performance of a contract — to provide the App and to manage your Lockd Pro subscription (Art. 6(1)(b)).
- Legitimate interests — to understand product usage, improve reliability and features, secure the service, prevent abuse, and respond to feedback, where not overridden by your rights (Art. 6(1)(f)).
- Consent — where you grant device permissions. You can manage device permissions in iOS Settings (Art. 6(1)(a)).
- Legal obligation — where processing is necessary to comply with the law (Art. 6(1)(c)).
What personal data we process about you
As described above, most of your information stays on your device and is not accessible to us. The personal data handled by us and our processors is limited to subscription and transaction information, randomly generated app-specific identifiers, analytics events and settings, basic device and app details, and any feedback content you choose to submit.
Your rights under the GDPR
You have the right to:
- access the personal data we hold about you;
- request rectification of inaccurate data;
- request erasure (the “right to be forgotten”);
- restrict or object to our processing, including processing based on legitimate interests;
- data portability; and
- withdraw consent at any time, without affecting processing carried out before withdrawal.
Because Lockd does not require an account and keeps most data only on your device, you can already exercise many of these rights directly — by changing settings in the App or by deleting the App.
International data transfers
Apple, RevenueCat, PostHog, and Supabase may process data outside your country, including in the United States or European Union. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, it is protected by appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses (and equivalent UK and Swiss mechanisms) and/or certification under the EU–US Data Privacy Framework, as applicable.
How to exercise your rights
Contact us at contact@lockdfocus.app. We will respond within the timeframes required by law. There is no fee unless your request is clearly unfounded or excessive.
Right to lodge a complaint
You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data-protection supervisory authority. In the UK, this is the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO).
Automated decision-making
We do not use your personal data for automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
International users
Our service providers may process information in the United States, European Union, and other countries. By using the App, you understand that information may be processed in locations with different data-protection laws than your own.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the “Last updated” date above. Material changes will be reflected in the App or on this page.
